How Long Does Outdoor Signage Actually Last in Jaipur's Heat?

Jaipur doesn't do outdoor signage any favours — long stretches of intense direct sun for months at a time, dust, and then a monsoon season that tests every seal and edge you cut corners on. Different materials handle that differently, and knowing the pattern ahead of time is more useful than finding out the hard way.

Standard flex is the most sun-sensitive material we work with. In full exposure, expect visible fading somewhere between six months and a year — reds and yellows go first, blues and blacks hold longer. It's not a flaw, it's just what the material is for: cheap, fast, and meant for something that's coming down again within a year anyway.

Star Flex and outdoor-grade vinyl both hold up meaningfully longer — a few years of reasonable colour life is realistic, though a west-facing wall in full afternoon sun will still age either faster than a shaded or east-facing one.

Acrylic, particularly cast acrylic rather than the cheaper extruded grade, is built for the long haul — years of UV exposure before you'd notice real yellowing or clouding, which is why it's the standard for signage meant to stay up indefinitely rather than for a fixed campaign period.

ACP is the most weather-indifferent of everything we use — the aluminium face genuinely doesn't fade or degrade from sun the way printed or plastic materials do. Its vulnerability is different: water getting into a poorly sealed edge or fixing point over years, which is a construction detail, not a material limit.

The practical takeaway: if you know a sign is going somewhere with brutal west or south-facing sun, say so when you're ordering — it changes which material actually makes sense, sometimes more than the budget conversation does.
