Plotter cutting uses a small blade dragged across thin material following a digital outline, rather than a spinning bit or a laser — it's built for flexible sheet material, not rigid board. This is the machine behind cut vinyl lettering and logos, stencils, heat-transfer vinyl for printing designs onto t-shirts and uniforms, and paper or card cutouts for packaging and invitation work.

Because it's a blade rather than a cutting tool that removes material, plotter cutting doesn't produce dust or waste chips the way router or laser cutting does — it scores through the material and the excess weeds away by hand afterward, which is its own small skill; fine detail and small enclosed letters, like the inside of an "o" or an "a", need careful weeding so they don't lift or tear.

It's a different service from CNC router cutting even though people sometimes use the terms loosely — if your job is a rigid acrylic or MDF panel, that's router or laser work; if it's a sheet of vinyl, sticker paper, or heat-transfer film, that's plotter cutting.
